Dear Friends, Family, and Colleagues of Sam, aka Sammy the Lifeguard and Swim instructor:
You have come upon this page because you too have felt the love, kindness, service, and pleasure of having Sam as your dear friend, family member, coach, instructor or colleague.
You may not be aware that for the past year Sam has been struggling with a fierce battle against renal and liver failure. Thankfully he has just successfully undergone liver and kidney transplant surgery. You may not have known of these health challenges because as with everything, Sam has approached this battle calmly and privately in order to maintain his daily routine and work activities and to be able to fully give of himself to so many of us for as long as possible.
We have created this page to communicate with you - and Sam’s community at large - on his ongoing health status and to ask your help. Sam’s immediate medical costs have been submitted, though the extent of the coverage and the timing has not been determined. Please consider contributing to this fund to help carry Sam through this turbulent and long term healing process to regain his health and his strength, to be able to maintain a stable quality of life and to make a full recovery.
We know that we are asking for your support in a very precarious time when so much is in flux and uncertainties abound. However, we also know how worthy a cause this is. This is an opportunity not only to show Sam our love and support, but to help him get quickly back on his feet so that he can continue to cheer us on and share with all of us his encouragement, his big smile, his laughter, and his unwavering love of life.
