Please Support Dean Scherrer and His Family's Medical Needs

Donation protected
Many of you know my husband, Dean Scherrer, a good man who would give the shirt off his back for most anyone. What most people may not know is that Dean has been helping to support his elderly parents for over 10 years. Everything up until recently has been manageable. However, Dean's father had an incident that led to him fracturing his pelvis back in August, and since then, he has been plagued with infections and pneumonia, which led to him being put on a ventilator for 13 days. Miraculously, he was finally able to breathe on his own with oxygen, but the damage from being on a ventilator for so long has led to a long road to recovery and around-the-clock care in a nursing home facility for how long we are unsure of.

Meanwhile, Dean's mother is dealing with many health issues as well as having to care for herself on her own with the help of our family. Mom and Dad have been together for 65 years, and this is the longest amount of time they have been separated from each other. Mom and Dad are located in Florida, where some of our other family members are, while we are trying to manage most things from a distance here in Michigan.

While we are grateful to have insurance and good care, which is more than others may have, unfortunately, the bills keep piling up overwhelmingly due to unexpected copays. While our family is helping out the best they can in many ways, the financial burden is starting to take its toll and becoming stressful and worrisome as to how we will be able to keep the care ongoing for both his mom and dad. On top of everything, as most of you may know, Dean has been battling cancer for the last two years, so not to mention his medical bills are ongoing as well. While we wouldn't ask for help if all of this were manageable on our own, the time has come to reach out and ask for help.

We understand times are tough and the responsibility falls solely upon us, but if you are able to help out, any amount will help. If you have read this far, thank you for taking the time to consider helping out Dean and his family get over this hump in caring for his elderly parents. If you cannot help monetarily, no worries, we still love each and every one of you. You can still help by sharing this page or by directing us to helpful resources and organizations in FL to help with this sort of thing. Thank you all for your love, compassion, time, and consideration.
