David was found unconscious in a diabetic coma on September 2nd. He was passed out for 24-48 hours prior to being found and is lucky to be alive. He spent 5 days in the ICU and another 5 days in a regular hospital room due to type 1 diabetes complications. His type 2 diabetes recently turned into type 1 after he stopped making insulin. After being laid off and losing his health insurance, David’s diabetes took a turn for the worse as he lost affordable access to the specialists and tools needed to successfully manage his diabetes. He is unable to qualify for emergency Medi-Cal coverage and is now faced with mounting medical bills while being unable to work for an undetermined amount of time..
