Emergency Fund: Dakota Paralyzed in Car Accident

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Supporters,

I am reaching out with a plea for help for my brother Dakota, who has recently faced a life-altering tragedy. Dakota's world was turned upside down on February 17th, 2024 after he was tragically rear-ended by another vehicle, launching his car into oncoming traffic. The catastrophic impact has left him with severe trauma injuries, including punctured lungs, broken ribs, a fractured jaw, and the heartbreaking reality of a severed spinal cord, which doctor's have said will lead to paralysis from his chest down — Fortunately, up to this point, Dakota remains cognitively alert, communicating through eye movements and hand squeeze gestures.

For those of you who know Dakota, you're aware of his lifelong battle with a rare and challenging medical condition known as Goldenhar Syndrome . From a young age until his early twenties, Dakota was no stranger to hospital surgeries and medical interventions. Despite this, Dakota has persevered and overcome many of these obstacles to lead a normal life. In recent years, he thought he was well past any more medical trauma. However, this accident has unfortunately brought forth a new level of adversity.

Dakota is not just a brother to me and my family; he's a beacon of kindness, a talented songwriter, a caregiver for our mother, and a devout believer in Jesus Christ and the Bible. His gentle spirit and fiery determination have touched the lives of so many around him.
