Please support Colbey's battle with Cancer

Hi I’m Brooke. My older sister Colbey was recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia requiring immediate and aggressive chemotherapy.

There are still a lot of unknowns when it comes to Colbey's treatment at this time. What we do know is that she will immediately start an aggressive round of chemotherapy at the Vancouver General Hospital and then remain in Vancouver as an outpatient for the next year at least. Further treatment will be necessary but this remains unknown until the cancer is in remission.

While living in Vancouver as an outpatient, Colbey will be unable to live alone and will require full-time care to deal with the horrifying after-effects of the chemotherapy. This will require my mom, dad, and grandparents who came from out of province to rotate between our home in Victoria and a new place we will have to rent in Vancouver for Colbey.

This new reality for my parents is emotional and financial devastation. Maintaining another residence in Vancouver, providing 24-hr support for Colbey, and constantly travelling between Victoria and Vancouver is enough, on top of providing for my six-year-old brother, younger sister, and myself.

Even though Colbey's treatment is aggressive and will cause her severe emotional and physical pain and suffering, Colbey has taken this news like a champ! She’s ready to fight and has been extremely brave in accepting her new reality despite multiple bone marrow biopsies and constant tests. You could help her keep that momentum by providing well-needed financial support in her fight against Cancer. We are a family in crisis, and we humbly ask for your support so my sister can live and achieve her dreams of becoming a Doctor herself.
