Hello, my name is Cherish Lopez-Shirbach. During my fight as a Cancer Warrior, any generosity to help me battle my throat cancer is truly appreciated!
March 3, 2025 I started my 5 1/2 weeks of ChemoRadiation Therapy to treat my throat cancer. I have 2 radiation sessions 5 days a week. One day includes my 3-4 hour chemotherapy and multiple IV fluid sessions to help my body recover. Along with weekly blood tests to check my organ function and blood counts. I need my immune system and body weight to comply so I can ring the survivor bell at the end of all this!
Your support will help so much with more and more necessities arising daily with the appointments, medicines and supplies, therapy treatments and devices, specific nutritional requirements, gas, health insurance, etc.
So much of my stress originates right now from not being able to fully provide for my family…physically, mentally, and monetarily as I want and need to! At my core, I am a provider for my family…there is no greater pleasure for me than being a mom and a wife! Many of you have been so inspirational in your messages to me and asking what would be most helpful…helping me feel whole again, my having to ask for aid along the way is very tough but by the grace of God I’m still here and I will pray for the strength to not just fight for my life but my family unit too!
We are managing our best but of course being on a necessary and lengthy leave of absence, it all has become near impossible.
Due to the cancer itself or issues surfacing from previous treatment of my neck cancer at age 12. Treatment 36 years ago was less pinpointed and so my body, particularly head and neck suffered severe trauma.
In addition to my recent cancer diagnosis, I am recently diagnosed with the challenges of:
Trismus, normal mouth opening range is 35-55mm, mine is 6mm to 8mm on a good day.
Dysphagia and a paralyzed left vocal cord causing difficult issues with chewing, swallowing, and speaking. My current physicians and therapists are amazed that to date I was even able to articulate as well as I had and never aspirated or had pneumonia.
GERD, further restricting what I am able to consume.
Despite these challenges…my life is and has been miraculous! I am ready to be a SURVIVOR OF CANCER for a second time! I DO NOT FEAR FOR I KNOW GOD AND ALL OF YOU ARE WITH ME!
