A Life Changing Injury

In September 2025, our dear friend Catherine Fear suffered a devastating accident while doing what she loves most — working with her horses. Cath had a fall which has left her paralysed from the hips down, aged just 27.

We are raising funds to help support Cath as she navigates this next chapter of her life.

For the last eleven years, since she was 16, Cath has worked on a busy event yard, as an incredible groom, producing many young horses and ponies and eventing herself to 2-star.

The Road Ahead

After emergency surgery and several weeks in an acute hospital, Cath is now in a specialist spinal unit learning how to live with her life-changing injuries and rebuild independence. She faces months of intensive physiotherapy, specialist medical treatment, and major adaptations to her home.

Yet throughout it all, she’s shown incredible strength, humour, and determination — the same spirit that made her such a gifted and compassionate horsewoman.

Why We’re Fundraising

When Cath is discharged from Salisbury, she will need a lot of specialist equipment and medical help to be able to adjust and live independently. The funding available from social services is very limited and the equipment and medical help is expensive. We want to help Cath by setting up a fund that she can use to make her life a little easier. This might include:

• A lightweight wheelchair and power pack – around £18k

• A sports wheelchair that can be used safely over outdoor terrain including stables and fields – around £20k

• Specialist physiotherapy and medical support – thousands of pounds

• Home and car adaptions – thousands of pounds

A Life Built Around Horses

Horses are at the heart of who Cath is — caring for them, training them, and inspiring others through her work. Even after this injury, she’s determined to stay connected to the equestrian world. With your support, we believe she can continue that journey.
