I know MANY of us have been watching and praying over Brenna, Brie & Jeff the last 9 years and the time has come for Brenna's Brave Fight and they need our support!
For those of you who don’t know, Brenna has Fanconi Anemia. A very rare and complicated diagnosis with more challenges than any child & family should have to endure.
Her condition has caused severe aplastic anemia requiring her to have a bone marrow transplant. After much waiting & testing, Brenna will now begin the transplant process at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital on September 29th.
The transplant process involves 6 days of chemotherapy followed by a stem cell transplant. Brenna’s donor is her father, Jeff. He will also be undergoing a procedure to have a central line placed to help with the stem cell retrieval process which involves being hooked up to a machine which takes his blood, filters out the stem cells, then puts the blood back in.
Brenna’s expected hospital stay will be 4-6 weeks. After discharge, the family is required to stay in Cincinnati for a minimum of 100 days.
Due to the long hospitalization and stay in Cincinnati, Brie will be unable to work & will extend past the Family Medical Leave Act.
We are hoping to ease some of the financial demands of having to leave their jobs, home, pets, school, friends and family for several months.
