I have created this page to help my cousin, Athanasia Sue Vanikiotis, a loving mother, wife, daughter, family member and friend, who has very recently been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer which has also spread to other parts of her body.

The family is emotionally shattered with the diagnosis of Athanasia’s extensive spread of cancer and the only long term solution is targeted treatment.
This requires relocating to Melbourne for advanced treatment at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, using genetic sequencing and for CAR T-cell therapy. CAR (Chimeric Antigen Receptor) T-cell therapy is a new form of immunotherapy. It uses altered T cells to target cancer cells and counter the disease.

She has decided to undergo chemotherapy treatment to fight the disease. Her inability to work has placed a strain on the family’s financial position. This fundraiser will help both Athanasia and her family with extensive medical bills, mortgage repayments, utility bills, food, transport, relocation costs and basic living requirements, the costs of which are all becoming insurmountable.

With the support of friends, family and our community, I have decided to open a GoFundMe page to assist with funding her treatment and outstanding bills. I am setting up this Go Fund Me Page to ensure that her family can have the time and space required to adequately care for her through this difficult time. All donations will help in providing extensive medical treatment required to fight the disease and enable the family to spend precious time with her without the weight of work responsibilities and income pressure.

We want Athanasia to be afforded the opportunity to the best possible treatment and have a chance to prolong her life in comfort and enjoyment, with her family by her side, while she can. This time is precious and we are well aware that we must make the most of the moments we have with our loved ones.
