With great sadness, we must share that Amy passed away peacefully on Friday, March 14. She was surrounded in love by her family. We will send details on Amy's memorial service. We thank everyone for their love, support, and prayers. Please continue to send your prayers to Amy's family during this difficult time.

Amy came down with the flu and pneumonia and was admitted to the hospital on January 27th. She was immediately intubated and to save her life, she was transferred to a higher level of care. During her hospital stay, she has required the use of medical intervention to assist her heart and lungs to function. Her body went into septic shock and her internal organs shut down. Now, at day 35 of her hospital admission in the ICU, she still requires full lung support, tube feeding, and dialysis. She is unable to get out of bed without full support - she has been working daily with physical, speech, and respiratory therapy. While we have seen progress, Amy's recovery is long and still unclear at this time.

In December, Amy accepted a new administrator position in the Federal Way School District. Due to the limited amount of time that Amy was able to work prior to becoming ill, she has no access to FMLA or PTO benefits. We are beyond thankful for the PTO donations within the Federal Way School District that have kept her medical insurance active. Due to Amy's medical needs, her husband Rajdev and her family have been staying with Amy in the hospital, 24 hours a day. Amy's family faces large, continuing medical bills, as well as basic financial needs to maintain their household.

Amy is a wife (to her husband of 20 years, Rajdev), a mother (to her two children, Sienna (15) and Joaquin (13)), a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a friend to many, an educator to countless children in her career, and a professional mentor to many teachers.
