Amber was a dedicated Baptist when she met her now husband, Salvador. After meeting Sal, a Catholic, Amber became curious about the Catholic faith that her mother had once practiced.
After much prayer, RCIA, and marriage prep, she entered the faith in 2021 in a triumphant, solemn celebration where she received three sacraments! On the day she entered the Catholic Church, she received her first Holy Communion, Confirmation, and the Sacrament of Matrimony! Amber and Sal could now practice together and live out the faith that she was created for. The joy of being able to live out the sacraments with her family was indescribable.
Unfortunately, in November 2023, after going in for routine lab work, Amber was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. She immediately did 12 rounds of chemo, and the tumors in her colon and liver shrank enough that her oncologist and surgeon were comfortable with doing surgery. After a colon resection, liver resection, two blood transfusions, and a hospital stay for sepsis, Amber was ready for good news. In November of 2024, her doctor got excellent margins and declared her in remission. Relief filled her entire family, but in December of the same year, they received more bad news. After going in for a check-up on her previous infection, they found three more masses, and the largest one was the size of a golf ball.
Sadness filled the family, but with eyes looking up to heaven, they trust in the Lord's plan for them. This past January, Amber restarted chemo again. This chemo is different and has taken more of a toll on her body. Amber is a fighter, and up until now, she has been making gift baskets and offering her services for dog grooming to help pay for medical bills. She continues her full-time job and is as active as she can be in supporting her athletic children, but realizes that some help would be a huge blessing so that she can have the peace of mind to take her proper time to rest when she needs to. As always, any help is appreciated, big or small. Thank you.
