Please Support Aidan LaNasa’s Journey to Full Health

I am fortunate to include Kimm Gillis, John Gillis, and their family as close friends and neighbors. On November 3rd, they received harrowing news, the kind that no parent can imagine – their son Aidan LaNasa had been hit by a car and was in the Intensive Care Unit in Flagstaff, Arizona, fighting for his life at age 24.

Aidan and his friend Dan were on a road trip coming home from a music festival in Scottsdale. They wanted to do some desert photography along the way, so they headed through Flagstaff on their way back to California. As they were driving along Interstate 17 looking for photo opportunities they saw a car had rolled into the median divide after hitting black ice and a female flagging for help. They pulled over, and while helping, a truck hit the same black ice and plowed into Aidan, throwing him where he landed unconscious on rock and black ice on the side of the highway.

Aidan was rushed to the hospital and admitted into the Intensive Care Unit. His injuries included brain trauma and bleeding, broken orbital bones, and a broken cheekbone. He is suffering from short-term memory loss from his brain injuries and made it through the surgery to replace his orbital bones and his cheekbone with metal plates.

With health and youth on his side, Aidan was discharged to a rehabilitation center 7 days later, where he is receiving intensive rehabilitation care that will help him regain his mental and physical capacity. It is a true miracle that he survived this ordeal, but he has a three- to six-month or longer road to recovery that includes rehabilitation, physical therapy, and in-home care at the Gillis’s home. The cost of this rehabilitation is estimated to be $100K - $150K above and beyond insurance. All donations to GoFundMe will cover these unexpected expenses that will bring Aidan back to total health, and will help with Aidan’s recurring expenses without the ability to work for the foreseeable future.

Aidan and family have received so much love and support from family and friends, helping them get through this ordeal minute by minute, day by day. If you are so inclined, the Gillis family is grateful for donating whatever you can afford to help cover these unexpected expenses. And if you are not able to donate, that’s ok! Please continue to keep Aidan and the Gillis family in your thoughts and prayers.

I wish you and your loved ones good health. Thank you for your consideration.
