Adrian Sirdar's stroke recovery

Hi everyone, our names are Cassandra (Cassie) Chu and Charmaine Evans. On December 17th, 2022, our cousin Adrian suffered a severe stroke that rendered him unable to speak or move the right side of his body. It has been a difficult road so far and will continue to be for some time. We're turning to his and our community to ask for financial assistance, in whatever amount you can spare, to help Adrian with the costly services that he's needed as a result of his stroke.

Adrian lives alone and it's a miracle he survived his stroke! Despite being fully vaccinated and boosted, he had been working for a temp agency when he tested positive for Covid. Three days later, on Sunday, December 18th, his sister called to check on him and was alarmed when he was incoherent on the phone. She immediately called 911 and emergency responders had to break into his house. They found Adrian non-responsive on his bed and rushed him to the ER where he was diagnosed with Covid and a stroke that had left him paralyzed for 12 hours.

Adrian spent one week in the ICU at University of Chicago Hospital and was then transferred to Schwabb Rehab Hospital for 2.5 weeks where he continued to recover from Covid and his stroke. We are extremely grateful for the high level of care he received at both hospitals. Thanks to the help of the doctors, nurses and rehab staff, he is on the road to recovery. However, these facilities have not been cheap. His insurance has covered a fair amount of the bills, but Adrian has been left with some pretty large expenses as a result of the ambulance and hospital/rehab facilities. Since he is still not fully independent, he's unable to work and has already exhausted his savings and unemployment benefits.

It has been a difficult decision to create this GoFundMe—it's not easy to ask for help from friends and family, but we know ultimately it will help to reduce the tremendous amount of stress and anxiety that Adrian is going through as a result of this unfortunate situation.

The outpouring of extreme kindness from Adrian's friends and family has been his source of motivation and determination to make a full recovery. We are so grateful for any support you can provide. Thank you!
