My name is Mikelle Hatch and I am starting this fundraiser for my dear friend, Jamie. Jamie and her husband Bill's dog is in great need of surgery. Here is her story in her own words......

"Hi! My name is Jamie. Since the age of 5, I have not been without a dog companion. I always adopt rescues or take in strays. When I was in need of a new companion I went to the local adoption event. There were 2 perfect little pups just waiting for me and I couldn’t choose which I loved more so I came home with both. They are litter mates and the sweetest dogs I have ever met.

A couple of weeks ago they were engaging in their usual play around the yard and D.D. slipped and fell hard on concrete. He has been diagnosed with a ruptured knee. He weighs over 100 pounds and will not use his left leg due to the pain. Due to his size the surgery is very expensive.

Even though this wonderful young dog is not specially trained or for show, he is my life. I would do anything for him.

I am a struggling artist and my husband and I are just barely getting by. We came to California for a fresh start after cancer took our son and like most the medical bills hit us hard. We now realize we need help to help him.

Without surgery he will not be able to walk with the injured leg and at best will need a wheelchair right away. He is only 3 years old and a very happy boy. It absolutely kills me to see him in such pain.

I am just starting this journey with D.D. and so far the cost of the surgery will be a minimum $7000.00. This does not include the physical therapy, medications for his recovery and travel expenses to the closest animal hospital who can do this type of surgery.

Any help for my darlin’ D.D. will mean he can have a somewhat normal happy less pain filled life."
