And so this leads us to the story behind our Go Fund page.

Have you attended a Church wedding, christening or funeral and felt that the building framed the event beautifully? Or have you just popped in during a walk to find a cool space to rest or attend one of the services for a warm welcome, and each time, the Church has welcomed you?

With or without faith, these wonderful pieces of architecture belong to us all and sadly like most ageing buildings, they need us to maintain them so that future generations can enjoy them for whatever purpose they move towards

All Saints Church, Easton on the Hill is in need of our help as our collapsing roof and deteriorating walls are in need of urgent intervention. A six-figure sum will be required to complete the repairs and we are reaching out for donations to assist with our fund raising efforts.

Our small but passionate community are already planning fund raising events which will include a Teddy Bear parachute event off the tower, Harvest lunch with amazing auction prizes, music events in the Church and of course “Church Merch” for all to buy.

Seemingly small events I agree, but with many more initiatives from the community including grant applications we hope to raise awareness and bring in support from all the current and future friends of our Church and the wider community outside the village.

Finally, any donations received will be incredible and vital to raising awareness and funds for the project and with your help, we can achieve the amount required to save the Church building for that next wedding, music event or just a place of peace for a weary traveller.

All Saints Church, Easton on the Hill (situated at the meeting point of 4 counties in central England), is not only a beautiful Grade 1 listed building, it has many unique features. For example, the de Lindon Chapel and south aisle were built by a Norman knight, Sir Richard de Lindon. There are two historically significant carved stone “head stops” of Edward I and Eleanor of Castille, linking to the progress of Eleanor’s body towards London (and of course linked to the Eleanor crosses which marked that final journey). And a rather naughty “mooning” gargoyle. There are many more fascinating pieces of history hidden in this church, waiting to be revealed.
