Monica Blake's Funeral Expenses and Medical Bills

On July 26th, 2021 an unexpected event took by surprise our friend Monica Blake…she experienced a heart attack. She was rushed to the ER and once there, doctors determined that clogged arteries and high blood sugar levels were the main contributors of this event. Right after, Monica spent several days in the ICU. After further analysis, it was also determined that due to the heart attack, part of the heart was severely affected. Doctors met and studied two viable options: heart transplant (for which she was not eligible due to her diabetic condition) and the other only option was the implantation of a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD). The LVAD is a pump that is implanted in patients’ chests who have reached end-stage heart failure. Once implanted via an open-heart surgery, the battery-operated/mechanical pump device helps the left ventricle (main pumping chamber of the heart) pump blood to the rest of the body

The open-hear surgery was successfully performed at the California Pacific Medial Center (CPMC) on August 3rd and we were all hoping that Monica’s body would respond satisfactorily to the LVAD implantation; however, another procedure had to be performed days later as a pacemaker was also required. This is just the beginning of a long journey for Monica and her family so knowing the financial implications of medical conditions like this, friends and family are trying to help them as much as possible.

Everyone has been asking how they can help, so we decided to set up this fund in order to support Monica and her family during this difficult time and help them offset a little some of the extremely high cost of the surgeries, treatment, and post-surgery expenses.
