Lena and I’s baby got hit by a car yesterday at 5:00pm ☹️ Anyone that knows us knows that we lost our beloved Ruka (white boxer) to Lymphoma less than a year ago. We spent thousands of dollars trying to save her, to no avail. But we are able to give her another year and a half of life with us ❤️
So after some incredibly awful grieving time, (probably the worst time of both of our lives), we were able to rescue this sweet and totally crazy little girl! We fell in love immediately as we saved her from a house in Templeton that was by no means taking care of her and giving her the life she deserved.
We were getting ready to take her for a hike on the Avila Ridge and she got out of my house and out of our sight about 2-3 minutes before we left. Lena and I frantically looked for her for about 15 minutes and then Lena received a phone call that just absolutely destroyed both of us. A lady was driving on the frontage road in Shell beach and struck her at 40 miles per hour. She quickly pulled over and called the number that was on her collar. She and the man that witnessed the accident behind her stayed with Rylie and comforted her while they called us to relay the absolutely horrifying news.
We both had hope while looking for her that we would either find her or receive a phone call saying that someone had found her and we needed to pick her up. But the call Lena got was our worst nightmare. Rylie suffered a broken scapula, broken leg, massive internal injuries including severely bruised lungs and possible spinal damage. She may need to have her front leg amputated. But if she does need that, she will get along just fine and be perfectly normal and happy and jumpy as she has always been. She needs more days in the ER than we can afford, and neither Lena nor myself want our baby to die because we can’t afford to pay for it. Every night she stays in the ER is at least $2,000. We have already spent over $3,500 just to keep her alive. Please help us.
We have been able to spend some time with her while at the vet and ER hospital. She is the sweetest dog anyone could ever know.
Please do anything you can to help. Lena and I appreciate anything that anyone can do so much ❤️
