On the night the festival was meant to begin, we’re taking over Coco Boule and another secret location closeby for a special fundraiser party, featuring many of the original artists and performers. Come dance, connect, flirt and help us begin again... together. For more info on this please follow our instagram.
Why we are fundraising
Just one day before we were meant to begin building the first-ever Pinky Promise Festival, we were forced to postpone.
After over a year of tireless work alongside more than 300 artists, crew and volunteers, we were ready to bring something truly special to life. We had been assured by the venue that the permits were secured. But that wasn’t true and we were misled.
At the very last moment, we were pulled into an emergency meeting with the mayor, the village council and local landowners. That’s when it became painfully clear: not only had the permits never been issued but a decision had already been made behind closed doors whereby the village, the landowners and the local state authorities had come together to shut us down.
No questions. No dialogue. No interest in what we were actually building. Just fear, judgement and rejection.
Even more painful was learning that the same land and permissions we were denied were granted to another festival on the same site, just one week later.
It felt deeply unfair. It felt discriminatory. And yes it felt political.
Pinky Promise has never been a neutral space. We create room for queer joy, sexual expression, community healing and radical care. We centre artists and facilitators who are trans, non-binary, sex workers, people of colour — voices and stories so often erased or excluded.
And in a time where far-right sentiment is growing rapidly across Germany and Europe, cultural nourishing spaces like ours are being pushed out. What we offer challenges those who want us to shrink, to stay silent and to disappear.
But we’re not disappearing. The festival is postponed and right now, we need your help to make sure it comes back.
The festival was set to cost €200,000, and we had already spent a large amount of that on key infrastructure, production and logistics. We’re also still committed to refunding ticket holders as we know many of you made significant sacrifices to attend and we’re so grateful for your support.
This GoFundMe is here to:
- Help us recover some if not all of the money already spent
- Cover the cost of legal fees
- Ensure the survival and return of the festival next year
- Support the sustainability of Pinky Promise parties moving forward.
If you’ve ever felt held in one of our workshops, made a lover on a dancefloor, had a moment of intimacy in our spaces or if you simply believe in creating space for radical softness, joy and sensual expression please donate if you can.
This experience has broken our hearts but not our spirit. We’re still here and we’re not done.
With love,
The Pinky Promise Team
