My sweet sweet baby fika is the absolute light of my life for the past 7 years. She is the only family I have after my mom passed when I was 18, and my dad later when I was 21. I have no other support and no other way of helping her. We hike every day and swim every day and we were hiking she saw me climb a tree and wanted to come up (cuz she’s a crazy nut) and when she was trying she jumped and landed wrong on her arm. She didn’t show any signs of pain but a few weeks later she started limping and then we came back from a walk and she went to lay down, 15 minutes later her arm had a swell the size of a baseball and was growing. I took her to the vet, who tried to do NOTHING to help, asked if I wanted to pay 200 dollars for her to get flu shots and kept mentioning for her to get spayed which doesn’t have anything to do with her SWOLLEN ARM. And said they best they can do is take blood, The vet took blood and gave her 3 days worth of pain meds. And said wait two weeks to “see what happens”. To which I asked how much X-rays are because she clearly broke something and it’s now swelling from the trauma. She said over $1000 not including anesthesia, not including surgery or anything else.

there are no payment plans here in Canada unless you have incredible credit, which I do not, and no emergency funding. I’ve tried calling every hospital and vet and humane society even vet schools to see if they treat for a cheaper price, and every single one said the same thing, even just to see her and decide what should be done will be $300. And then X-rays and then surgery.

I don’t know what else to say, she is the only thing keeping me on this earth, and has been with me through my darkest days. I need to save her. if you can help her I would be so unfathomably grateful and would try my best to pay it forward in the future.
