Hi Everyone. My name is Sunita and I never thought I’d be on this site raising for my darling dad. It’s been a tough few years for dad, in 2021 he went through major open heart surgery, where he fought and with complications and being such a scary time, he came through with many months of rehabilitation to get himself strong again and bring himself back to where he can start to have a life again.
a few years down the line, we were overjoyed that day was finally back at work, on light duties, going slow and taking it easy as much as he could, getting on and dealing with his health and a few other issues but just being his beautiful selfless and hardworking self.
fast forward to 2024 and with tests ongoing throughout and then onto mid 2025, our family were hit with the devastating news that dad was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer - MDS - and not only that, but where his condition is classed as high risk and where dad has a RARE tissue type.
There is no cure for this and with his age and other conditions, time is against us and bills are stacking up. It’s been very stressful and sad sad times for us all. With my mum still working on and off and doing what she can whilst also taking care of dad and taking time to go to appointments and hospital sessions and treatments, and dad working my light duties to be able to pay the bills, medical bills and to survive.
I just wanted to start this page to try and raise some funds for the below few reasons :
1. any flights out to India and other countries to raise awareness and get swabbing for potential donors to save dad.
2. help create some amazing memories for dad whilst he fights this awful disease. This is most important where he can enjoy his life as much as he can.
3. help with medical bills and insurance as he’s very sick and still working but where this is very tough and hard on his body and self.
4. to give dad the best times ahead (whatever that may hold) where he can to be able to spoil him and show him how loved he is. I’m selling things to raise what I can but also with two little ones an a home and own bills, life is hard and London life is even more complicated.
Words are not enough to be able to explain just how important my dad is to me and to us and where I wish I could be with him 24/7 and even take this horrible disease away from
him and swap places. I cannot bear this year already and all we need is a stranger now to save dad in the form of a stem cell donor but proving tricky. Time is against us and we don’t want this disease to progress to AML.
This news has been absolutely Devastating for my family and I and we are working against a clock right now.
My dad has an infectious personality, kindness, love and big heart, and just a great loving and selfless man. He is Nana to my two beautiful angels and has a loving and devoted wife with this year being 50yrs married and me and my brother as well. He has SO much to look forward to this year onwards and he deserves all the happiness in Life xxx
So, writing this I am in tears, but the reason I am on here is to inform that the only chance of survival for my daddy is a stem cell transplant. This in our community is rare but I know we can work tidy her and find one!
We really need to URGENTLY find a matching donor. Dad has a very rare tissue type but one thing I know is that I am not going to give
Up and where YOU might be that one person who will save dad!!!! ❤️
I’m asking each and every one of you to PLEASE checkout the websites below Anthony Nolan and DKMS (if anyone knows of other routes to try and also raise awareness, please reach out to me) and if you can, please donate (anyone Indian and in good general health aged 16-40) as you might me the one person who saves my dear daddy’s life, he has two grandchildren under 9, who he simply adores and who adore him, my dad is our world. He has many years of happiness and joyful times ahead and we aren’t ready for this right now, we want and need him and really are asking for help, even a share to your friends, to donate or just to get this post seen to as many groups within our Indian / ethnic community here and worldwide. I’m at a loss to where to start but I’m hoping and praying before it’s too late….If I could take this pain away from my dad and be in his place, believe me I would. We can’t bare this and just want to give Dad hope and to know his lifesaver is out there. All it takes is a quick cheek and mouth swap done in seconds once the kit arrives. Registering as a donor takes a few weeks so if you can please act fast, that’s all we ask. If it’s just a share, that’s all we ask too but PLEASE- let’s save my dad’s life xxxx We are hoping that Someone out there to register as a SCT donor and get swabbed as YOU could be dad’s match xxx
From the bottom of our hearts, we thankyou for taking the time for anything you do to help spread this post and help us on this nightmare.
I am just a daughter doing all I can to save our dad / Nana.
Let’s all PLEASE pull together, give Dad the life he deserves, to enjoy with his precious little ones, wife and children, everyone he loves and loves him.
Please visit the below websites to register to save a life today -
Anthony Nolan - https://www.anthonynolan.org
DKMS- https://www.dkms.org.uk/
DATRI (India) - https://datri.org/
I’ve never done this before but below is a link for any donations to support and assist (no matter how small) as the fund explains more and so from the bottom of our hearts, thankyou so so much for your time and support for my daddy xxxx The most important thing is to PLEASE register if you are able to and share this post for awareness ❤️❤️
From the bottom of my heart, and bills aside, even if anyone from 18-55 healthy and reading this from the Asian community or even outside of that and healthy can register and get swabbed to be a donor, that means more than anything. Please register at DKMS or Anthony Nolan for UK donors and DATRI in India and it takes less than 5mins to swab and send it off - YOU could be the person to save dad’s life or others.
The doctors have so far been unable to find a donor that matches for dads rare tissue type and this is just devastating news for us all so PLEASE if you are between the ages, of good health and Indian and have for mins to spare please see links above. Once the goals have been reached, we will also donate a percentage to the DKMS charity above for all their help xx
Thankyou each and everyone of you. Every little you can spare will go towards something amazing for my daddy xxxx Nothing is too small xx Thankyou for the time taking to read this xxx
