This is our 3 and a half year old French Bulldog Bruiser. Before he got hurt, he was a goofy little ball of energy from the moment we brought him home as a puppy. He has never seemed to grow out of his puppy energy. He loves taking naps on our laps with his brother, chasing his ball around the house, and going to work with dad. Both him and his brother have basically become the shop mascots and everybody loves their fun goofball energy.

This past Monday my family received some devastating news. Saturday morning Bruiser was playing with his brother and sister when he started acting very sick. We took him to the ER and were told it wasn’t anything serious. By Sunday afternoon Bruiser had lost all ability to feel and use his back legs. Mom took him back to the vet the following morning then to an emergency neurologist to figure out what had happened.
They believe he herniated a disk in his mid back and has become completely paralyzed from the disk down. He can’t use his back legs or go to the bathroom on his own. What we are currently doing is hoping that the steroids we were given for him work and he’ll be back to walking in no time, but the doctor said that there’s only a 20% chance of that happening and every day that goes by without him walking that chance decreases. Another option the doctor gave us was surgery that would give him a much better chance of going back to his usual self.
This is what we need your help with. For him to get this potentially life saving surgery, Bruiser needs a $3500 MRI and then the surgery itself would cost $3500 on top of that. This is money we do not have currently. So we are stuck waiting and hoping that he shows significant improvement by the end of the week or else we might have to say goodbye to our little ball of happiness. He’s too young for us to say goodbye.
