Barely a month ago, I lost the love of my life in his sleep. Each day since, I’ve become more terrified the same thing will happen to my loyal little friend Bandit, when I can actually prevent it. Without this surgery, he won’t last through December.

Bandit is a 13-yr-old, 65-lb Beagle / Dalmatian with laryngeal paralysis. He still has the same great appetite and love for food, but it’s become increasingly difficult for him to swallow, or even to walk very far, because he’s gasping for breath.

Bandit’s recommended surgery is called a tie-back: a suture or staple is used to tie back one flap of his larynx to allow for oxygen flow. The effects are immediately beneficial.

The veterinary surgeons have said that his quality of life will be vastly improved by simply being able to breathe. The surgery would reduce his suffering right away, and recovery from tie-back surgeries is often quick. Bandit’s vets have said that he is a good candidate for the surgery even given his age.

I’ve purchased a doggy oxygen mask to use on difficult days, but Bandit is afraid of muzzles and runs away, which only heightens his distress. He’s been on a rapid decline over the past two months, and is losing weight. I’m terrified as I’m watching him slowly suffocate before my eyes.

The surgery is tentatively scheduled for 11/14, but I have to raise the money first.

Please help me save Bandit’s life!!!
