Hello, my name is Shawn Craig, and I am writing this on behalf of my father and mother.

If you know me or my family, you know that we do not ask for help lightly. To be honest, what we truly need most right now are your prayers. My parents are both going through some very difficult times, and they need all the support they can get.

My dad, Larry Craig, is a two-time kidney recipient. I was blessed to be his donor on January 31, 2012. On Sunday, October 12th, while getting ready for church, he fell and suffered a severe injury—cracking his ball and socket joint in his right shoulder and fracturing his arm just below it. Due to his fragile health, doctors determined he was not a candidate for surgery. Since then, he has been in and out of the hospital, and when he stayed with my mother and me, his strength continued to decline.

On October 29th and 30th, while in rehab at White River Medical Center, my dad went into a comatose-like state. He is now doing better and slowly regaining strength, but he still has a long road to recovery.

Yesterday, my mom—who is a Type 1 diabetic—was admitted to the ICU at White River due to diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). Her insulin levels had skyrocketed into the 1000s. The night before, we had been struggling with her Medtronic insulin pump, and when I left for school, I could tell something wasn’t right. I had this strong feeling that I needed to go home and check on her. When I found her unresponsive on the couch, I truly thought she was gone. I rushed her to the emergency room, and by the grace of God, she is now receiving the care she needs.

At this moment, both of my parents are in the hospital. I am setting up this account to help cover any medical bills and expenses they may face as they recover. More than anything, we ask for your prayers—for strength, healing, and comfort for my mom and dad.
