Please Lend A Helping Hand To The Chavez Family
Donation protected
Mark and Madeline Chavez are parents to two boys, Markie (8) and Joey (7). When Markie started kindergarten, Maddie joined the elementary school PTA, and that's how several of us moms have been friends ever since. Maddie is an easy person to be friends with because she is an incredible person who gives her time and love so freely and shows her creativity in so many different ways that benefit others. Since her children started school, she has volunteered countless hours and contributed much to the school community. From helping plan and execute school events to volunteering time in her children's classrooms to dedicating her time to the school during spring and summer breaks to work on projects that beautify the campus, Maddie is always willing to lend a helping hand.
Unfortunately, Mark and Maddie have had a tough time this past year and a half, and this time, they need a helping hand.
It started at the end of 2020 when Maddie had to be hospitalized for nearly a month with an infection in her spinal disc that was causing compression on her nerves and then had to undergo two separate cervical spinal fusion surgeries in January 2021! She has a long road to recovery that started with having to walk with a walker and lots of physical therapy, but she is healing and getting stronger every day.
However, the last 30 days have been somewhat of a whirlwind for the Chavez family.
Their firstborn son had genetic testing done and was just diagnosed with Juvenile Onset Tay-Sachs Disease. This news has been very heartbreaking and difficult for everyone. However, they are all trying to stay positive and focused on the present.
A few days after finding out this devastating news, they were asked by their landlord to move out of the only home that the boys have known. Without any other options, they will have to move out of Mira Mesa to live with family, and their boys will have to switch schools and leave behind the friends that they have made.
As if any of these things weren't challenging enough on their own, there has been one more challenge laid at their feet. This past Saturday, Maddie and her youngest son, Joey, were driving home from his baseball game when she lost control of their truck, causing it to spin out and then roll over! Thank God that neither one of them was hurt beyond a single bruise on Joey's leg!
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the truck, which brings us to this.
We would love to provide Maddie and her family with a reliable used vehicle that she can transport her kids safely to and from school, doctor appointments, and therapies, etc., and that has room enough for Markie's wheelchair and other necessary medical equipment. A vehicle that she will be able to rely on whenever she needs it.
She never asks for anything from people, but we are now. Thank you for considering any amount!
