Please Join Us In Saving An Afghan Family

Thanks to your generosity, we have raised enough to file applications for humanitarian parole for our client's entire family.  As I noted earlier, this is a crucial first step in getting this family to safety.  The next step will be to get them out of Afghanistan.  I am therefore increasing our fundraising target.  Any amounts raised above our initial goal will be used to get the family across a border and away from the Taliban.  Again, thank you all for your generosity.    

Please help us rescue our good friend's Afghan family that has been targeted by the Taliban because they worked for U.S. companies in Afghanistan. Two members of the family were kidnapped and tortured by the Taliban in the past because of their ties to the U.S. The Taliban is now actively searching for certain men in the family, and delivered an arrest warrant for one of them just today, September 7. 

If found, these fathers, sons and brothers will most certainly be tortured and executed. Their children and other family members are also at grave risk of being executed, kidnapped and held as hostages until the targeted family members are killed or, particularly for the teenage girls, sold at auction.

In conjunction with a local refugee advocacy organization, Building One Community, I am assisting the family in applying for "Humanitarian Parole" with the U.S. government. This is a temporary immigration status that will allow the family to come to the U.S., and a necessary first step in bringing them to safety. The family will not be able to leave Afghanistan without these papers, and if they cannot leave, at least some will be killed.

The filing fee for each Humanitarian Parole application is $575, and there are over 20 family members in need of your help, many of whom are young children. While the withdrawal of our troops has ended, the evacuation of innocent civilians is has not.  I therefore urgently ask that you please give whatever amount you can to bring this family to the safety of the U.S. we are so fortunate to enjoy.
