My name is Kim. I am Danny’s partner and full time caregiver.

Our beloved Danny has recently received the devastating diagnosis of Stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer (adenocarcinoma), a form of cancer that, while currently being treated, is ultimately incurable. Just days short of his 49th birthday, Danny now faces the fight of his life—not only against this aggressive disease but also against the heavy financial burdens that come with it.

Danny has been unable to work since February and has no long-term disability coverage through work. Danny is relying on the love and support of his partner, who has now had to take an unpaid leave from her job to care for him full time, while also balancing being a mother to three young children.

This fundraiser has been created to help cover the mounting costs of Danny’s care, including day to day expenses, his daily targeted therapy (which is VERY expensive and not covered by OHIP), ongoing hospital travel and parking expenses, and eventual end-of-life arrangements.

Any funds remaining after medical and associated costs are covered will be placed in a trust for Danny’s 16 (almost 17)-year-old son, to help provide some security and support for his future. Danny has always been a loving father, partner, and friend — and we want to ensure his son is cared for, even when Danny no longer can be. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference during this incredibly difficult time.
