Please help Emily DeArmit with Medical Expenses

Emily DeArmit , the former Director of Food and Nutrition Services at Chippewa Valley Schools has suffered a medical emergency. I worked with Emily for about 5 years and she is a wonderful and compassionate person. She could use our help now. A few weeks before Christmas, Emily and her husband Currey were on vacation in the Bahamas when Emily suffered severe headaches and balance issues. Currey took her to the emergency room in the Bahamas. From there Emily was airlifted to Miami where she underwent surgery to have a mass removed from the back of her brain. She spent about 3 weeks in ICU and had 3 additional surgeries to remove the fluid around the brain. After close to a month in ICU, she was moved to a rehabilitation center. Emily is young and strong and is expected to make a full recovery. But it will be a long road as she begins her rehabilitation. It is expected that she will remain in Miami for at least an additional 3 weeks, depending on her progress.

It has been a very difficult time for the family, especially with this occurring at Christmas. Emily and Currey have two very young daughters. The girls are staying with Emily’s sister here in Michigan while Currey remains at Emily’s side.

The emergency flight from the Bahamas is a huge expense, along with the medical costs, rehabilitation, and other miscellaneous expenses that will put a major strain on them. We are praying for Emily and her family in this difficult time. But we can also help them out financially. Please know that any help you can give is greatly appreciated.
