Baby Ziti started exhibiting some new strange and unusual symptoms when I observed him eating about 10 days ago. Within a few days of that, he stopped eating and drinking entirely. I immediately called Dr. Magnus who paid us a visit and sent out for a full blood workup and Ziti was given some injections to help stimulate his appetite and curb any nausea he may be having. I checked back in the next day and his blood work came back normal (other than low electrolytes and anemia) and we still had no answers as a result of the panel workup. Fast forward to Saturday evening and I was really starting to panic. How could he sustain not eating or drinking for this long? I had to at least get fluids in his system... Ziti has lost 40% of his body weight and was really struggling and clinging to life. His eyes were dilated signaling pain and he still wasn't eating or drinking anything. I called the vet again and he showed me how to administer fluids to keep him hydrated which I've been giving him every 12 hours along with a cream that is supposed to stimulate his appetite. It seemed to be helping for about a day and then he reverted back again...
He is still losing weight and not eating well or drinking so we are going in for further diagnostic testing, X-rays and an ultrasound tomorrow. This will all likely result in exploratory surgery which they are thinking might be signs of a blockage or cancer and will raise the bill to more than $3,000.
For those close to me, you all know that I have been battling terrible stomach pain, nausea and intestinal distress these last 4 months. I was supposed to go in for some procedures this past week at Chippenham Hospital, but canceled my appointment to help figure out what is going on with my Ziti.
I am having a really hard time asking for assistance, but the sooner I can figure out what is going on with Ziti to get him on a path of healing, the sooner I can start to do the same for myself. I appreciate any donation you may be able to share with us. We will be forever grateful!
*The first photo is Ziti feeling great and living his best life! The rest are in his current state, just feeling unwell :( His big puppy brothers are very concerned and we are all looking forward to seeing him return to health and be happy again!
