Wong Family Business Lost Overnight

 

 

 

 

 

Hi everyone,

 

My name is Claudia Wong, and I am setting up this fundraiser on behalf of my parents, Ching and Ai Mei. Our family had a small food products business in the Chinese community near Chinatown for decades. My parents have built their lives around this business for over 20 years. Unfortunately, last week our shop burned down. Because of this incident, we’re currently unable to continue working. I’m setting up this page to surprise my parents and show them how important their business is to the community.

 

Our business has already taken a huge blow with the pandemic still in effect, including the shortage of produce that continues to be hiked up in price. Not only is this affecting our family, but it's affecting the families of our workers. With no work for them to continue earning money, their livelihoods are also affected until we can get our business up and running again. This loss has been taking a toll on everyone and has affected the health of both my parents. It is heartbreaking to see what this situation has done to my family as we try to find a solution to repair their 20+ years of hard work.

 

This is going to be a long journey to get us back to where we were. Despite the challenges we face ahead, I hope you will be by our side, sending us encouragement and seeing this hardship through with us. Our family will be immensely grateful for your encouragement and support. We'd love to be back within the community and continue to serve each and every one of you in the future.
