My Uncle, John Wassmer passed away on March 9, 2026. What started as the flu and appeared recovery triggered a series of events that weakened my Uncle's already compromised condition. Just when we surmised his probable recovery, we were alerted to the unsettling fact his heart was working way below optimal levels (15-18%) and yet he still fought. He was then readmitted to the hospital and sustained 2 successive strokes paired with his already known condition, Diabetes, among many other things. With the help of concerned family, the dedicated religious at the St.Benedict Center and compassionate doctors diligently monitoring the situation, all options were carefully weighed and assessed. It had been our hope he would be strong enough to finally undergo a pacemaker procedure that he desperately needed but in his gradually weakening state that became a very unrealistic hope. As the days wound down so much family and so many faithful friends aided my Uncle during his intense struggles through very strong prayer continually reciting the Rosary for which we are all extremely grateful for! My Uncle's faithful friend Brother AndreMarie and my other Uncle, Jimmy Wassmer (Uncle John's only surviving brother) stayed with him in his last hours to the end, offering comfort, and strong prayers. He was well looked after but as you can imagine he went through a painful and scary illness that could only be approached with great Faith. My Uncle departed this life a soldier of Christ and a Faithful Catholic, same as my father less than two years prior. It is greatly in part due to your thoughtful and continual prayers that enabled him to fight the good fight with great patience and true Catholic humility. The Monastery where my Uncle lived has been extremely gracious and will be assisting with all necessities of the funeral Mass and burial. Please consider helping lift the burden of the family members and Religious that knew him with a small monetary contribution. My Uncle was a religious, he was content to die with nothing but we that are left behind would simply like to give him a decent burial and would greatly appreciate anyone that would pray and have Masses said with the intentions that he speedily reach Heaven and completely bypass Purgatory. It seems my Uncle and his previously deceased brothers all passed at relatively young ages, which as you can understand was a great loss to us, although unfortunately, not completely unexpected. So this was a bit of another blow to the family that was left behind. Funerals are expensive as we all know and we only humbly ask that you will assist us with nominal donations if possible to help with the funeral and any unforeseen circumstances related to the passing of my Uncle and the St.Benedict Center. After a death there are so many things that unexpectedly come up that might have slipped our minds. If we were to receive any extra funds my family and my Uncle would want it to go to the assistance of the poor religious at the St.Benedict Center that my Uncle loved so much and that very generously looked after him. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated God bless you! My entire family thanks everyone that prayed for my Uncle and everyone that continues to assist and ease his journey into Heaven! Thank you so very much for all of your generous support✝️ Please be assured our family is praying for all of you in return.
