Our sweet Tesla has been diagnosed with cancer in her leg and recovery options are financially out of reach for Josh and myself. As well, Josh was told to expect possibly a year at most added to her life for what would be a very costly surgery and painful recovery. She is very much in pain, close to unable to walk at this point, and it's been decided that letting her go would be in her best interests.

Neither Josh nor I have the money to do what is right. As of writing this, I can cover the required emergency exam fee, but I have no way to pay for the pet taxi, euthanasia and cremation for a large breed dog. I was told to expect costs at $1000 or more, but had a bunch of wildly different numbers thrown at me from different vets.

Tesla was what Lex Gore called her "lifetime achievement award", and in her life has been very loved and still is. Josh has been her caretaker since 2023 and was also caretaker of her mother Maya.

For various reasons, we would both like private cremation for her (I would like to add a portion of her ashes to Lex's urn, so they can be together again).
