Hi!

Please meet Winx, aka Sid, aka Bubs.

We found Winx in an alleyway. At only 4 weeks old, she was alone and had no vision due to an obvious eye infection.

We took her to the vets who told us she had a bad case of cat flu. We got her medication and began treatments to save her eyes.

Unfortunately a few days later it became clear that her left eye was too far gone and she needed surgery to remove it.

Due to her young age of 4 weeks we were told it was risky for her, but the eye needed to be removed or she wouldn’t make it.

The operation went well, and Winx came home with us for continued care and recovery.

Treatment for her remaining eye has been ongoing, and she was struggling to fight a secondary infection, resulting in further swelling.

Winx is the absolute sweetest, most gentle cuddle monster there is. She is truly amazing at how she navigates the world, despite having no vision. She is already using the litter tray on her own, and unafraid of loud noises.

Her favourite things are tummy rubs and her mouse toy. She has a really wonderful life and home ahead of her, so we are doing everything we can for her to live it. She deserves it after the rough start to life.

As Winx was found as a stray, she is unable to be covered by pet insurance. So far myself, my partner and Winx’ new family have been paying for all her treatment and surgery, but it has not been easy with rising costs, and the prospect of a second surgery.

*UPDATE

Winx is currently undergoing surgery to remove her remaining eye. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, the eye has remained an area of concern and we are all in agreement that the best course is for removal.

Winx already is completely blind, so she is not losing any vision with the removal. It will not have a negative impact on her enjoyment of the rest of her life as an indoor cat
