Please help with Pino’s emergency vet visit
Donation protected
This evening (9/26), our sweet loving girl Pino was hit by a speeding car. We live on the corner of two very busy roads, where people tend to speed (it’s a 40mph zone, but a lot of people go 60mph+). My mothers boyfriend was out front cutting the grass, and had our gate shut, but not locked. Pino has never opened this gate before, or even gone out front, but today she nudged the gate open and ran into the road.
The pickup truck that hit her, ran into her backend and she ended up stuck under the front of his truck. The man that was driving had to back up to get her unstuck. I wasn’t home when this all happened, but my mother said that Pino’s tail was torn at the base, her face is scraped up with a chipped tooth, her side was really impacted- it was extremely swollen up and she can’t move on her own right now (they had to get a blanket under her to get her into the car). She’s been taken to an emergency vet, and they have gotten her stable now. So far they’ve done a bunch of tests (X-rays, neurological, etc) and they’re keeping her overnight to keep working with her. The emergency vet said she will need surgery done to her anus, it’s been torn and needs to be surgically put back together.
Our family is financially struggling right now, and we’re not sure how we’ll be able to pull off this emergency vet visit (it’s steadily increasing, it’s currently at $2600, and this is without the surgery to her backend). I am the only one who is currently working (a retail job), covid put my mother and sister out of their jobs and my grandmother is off of work due to cancer.
We just lost our one dog of over 13 years a week ago (she had a very intense kind of cancer, and ended up having to be euthanized), and weren’t expecting anything of this severity to happen to any of our other pets, especially so soon.
I would greatly appreciate any help you could provide, Pino means so much to us. She’s such a loving sweet dog who is so excited by everything. Anything and everything helps! Thank you very much.
