Hello, I’m Jason. For those who know my mother, she was just diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and is in very bad shape. The cancer has hit her hard, and she is barely able to move around.
***UPDATE 8/27/21: Originally I started this fundraiser for my mothers bathroom, to make it handicap compliant and repair all of the damage from the catastrophic freeze a few months ago that left her without water. Because of the generous donations, I was able to begin this project right away. Unfortunately, in the middle of the remodel last Saturday she took a very quick and dramatic turn for the worst. At this point, she is completely unresponsive. She hasn't ate in 7 days and is under 90 lbs. The cancer had spread from her lungs into her bones and finally her brain at an alarming rate. I called in Hospice in for her and they said it's just a matter of days, as her body is already shutting down and she's in the process of "transitioning". Eventually, I will finish what I started with the bathroom, but the main focus of this fundraiser has now shifted to taking care of my mothers final arrangements... something that is ridiculously expensive and we just were not prepared to have to deal with so quickly. We greatly appreciate everyone's love, help, and support during this most troubling time of need. I ask that you please help if you can so I can give my mother the proper sendoff that she deserves. In her final hours, she is home, surrounded by loved ones, friends and family alike, just the way she wanted it. This is one of the most difficult things I've had to do in my life, watching my mother suffer and waste away, wondering if each breath will be her last and knowing there's nothing I can do about it. But I am right here by her side so she won't be alone. Again, thank y'all for the help. Please donate if you can. And even if you can't, please share so maybe others are able to. For full transparency, I have left the original text of the fundraiser below.
_____________
During the hard freeze earlier this year, every pipe in our house busted, and the entire house needed to be replumbed from scratch. It took a while, but we got up the materials to fix it and found a wonderful plumber that was generous enough to help install it.
In the midst of the repair, we discovered that all of the pipes inside the wall in moms bathroom were also blown, which will require me to completely gut the bathroom to make the repairs. She has no running water in her part of the house at all, even to her toilet. Mom has asked that while I do this, if I will take out her bathtub and put a walk-in style shower with a chair to make it handicap compliant, because in her condition she’s not able to get in and out of the tub. When my daughter and I agreed to this project, we had no idea how expensive it would turn out to be, and we’re in over our heads now trying to make this happen.
We just need a little help to provide mom with some basic human comfort in her time of need. If anyone could help out, even a little, it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
