Please Help With Gloria's Final Expenses

Donation protected
Gloria Snowman was a tireless advocate for children with special needs. She worked as a Special Education Teacher in the Dover NH School District for many years before recently retiring to enjoy time with family and friends. She missed the kids so much, that once retired, she decided to return part time to help with student evaluations.

Gloria was on her way home from the grocery store around 3 p.m. on Sunday, 11/21/21, when she was hit head on by a multi-offender who has been charged with driving while under the influence. Despite massive injuries, Gloria held on for one week, before succumbing to her injuries two days after Thanksgiving.

While Gloria's death is a senseless tragedy, her life is what we honor and celebrate. We will not let the means of her death overshadow all of the goodness she brought to the world, and all of the work she did on behalf of those who struggled. Gloria had a sense of humor, a kind heart, a soft spot for animals (especially her chickens!), and she created and donated beautiful quilts for many families who were celebrating or grieving.

The work Gloria did as a special educator was phenomenal. She invested in kids as if they were her own, and she advocated for their inclusion in all areas of school. Her classroom was a family, complete with friendly critters from her farm at times, and for many years she worked with her students to practice and participate in Special Olympics. Gloria found the good in everyone, and she touched countless hearts in our community. Her loss is crushing to those who loved her, worked with her, and to parents who got to know her as she worked with their children.

Gloria’s death has created a financial hardship for her family. Medical bills and funeral costs are very high. The hope for this fundraiser, at a minimum, is to raise money to pay all of these expenses. Gloria’s husband, Bob, is a teaching assistant at Dover High School. He has said that any money left over after expenses are paid will be donated to the Dover Special Education Department in honor of Gloria’s memory.

For further information about Gloria, and to read tributes from some of her friends and colleagues, please see the frontpage story that was recently published in Foster’s Daily Democrat. Gloria leaves a legacy of love, kindness, integrity, and humor. Any help in covering these final expenses and honoring her memory will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

UPDATE: Bob Snowman has been named as the sole beneficiary of this fundraiser, and all money is going directly to him.

Bob's post announcing Gloria's death:
"With a great amount of sadness, the queen of my dreams has been called home. She was given her wings this morning. She leaves many friends and family who loved her spirit of life. I consider myself most fortunate to have been chosen by her to join her on the adventures of her life. She was my best friend, partner, and more than willing to help raise two kids who weren't hers. Teaching in Dover was the most fulfilling job she ever had. Loved working with kids. Goodbye my dear. I will see you in my dreams."
