On November 6, Chloe was rushed to an emergency pet hospital with extreme anemia and a life-threatening low red blood count. An echocardiogram, ultrasound, and x-rays showed that she also has an enlarged heart, liver, spleen and lymph nodes. She was given a blood transfusion and was hospitalized.
Tests for IMHA came as "weak positive", so she is currently on steroid and antibiotic treatment. Her RBC is gradually rising, but it's still only half of what it should be. She has upcoming appointments with Internal Medicine and Cardiology to try to figure out what is wrong with her, and to try to manage her conditions.
Chloe is only 20 months old, and we never expected this. We have all of our cats insured for $8000 USD per year each, but Chloe's expenses for just five days exceeded that figure. Her annual insurance maximum won't reset until her policy renewal in July 2025. Since she's reached her insurance maximum, we will be responsible for 100% of all further costs. Her echocardiogram, ultrasound, and x-rays will have to be repeated in a few months, and those procedures alone will cost over $2000 USD.
Already, co-pays and deductibles have cost us thousands of dollars in the past few months, with, in addition to Chloe, a trip for Lisa to an emergency pet hospital, and dental surgery for Muffy with the removal of 17 teeth. Our total vet bills for the past few months have gone over $11,000 USD.
We know that times are tough everywhere, and we also know that plenty of other pets are in need of help too. Any little amount would help, as it all adds up. We sincerely appreciate anything and everything. Even if you're not in a position to assist financially, just sharing this Go Fund Me would help.
Thank you!
