Hello everyone! Thank you so much for taking the time to view our GoFundMe for our beloved cat Cheeto.

Cheeto is our 3 year old kitty. We have had him since he was only 2 months old, and he has been with us since a few days before my husband and I got married, has moved with us halfway across the country from California to Texas, and is our sweet baby boy. Needless to say, he’s a very precious piece of our little family. This is why it’s hitting us so hard that he’s going through so much right now.

On May 18, 2025, Cheeto was hospitalized at an emergency vet because he was unable to urinate. He had a urinary blockage due to struvite crystals in his bladder, which was also inflamed and producing excessive mucus, resulting in his blockage. He stayed for 24 hours, and they unblocked him with a catheter and gave him IV fluids. This visit alone cost us $4,137.29.

We took him home, and everything seemed to be going great until he began exhibiting signs of another blockage on June 1, 2025. We rushed him back to the ER where they unblocked him once again, but because he had already blocked once before just 2 weeks prior, he remained hospitalized for 2 days for extra monitoring. This visit cost us $5,384.18.

We now have him home again, and are preparing for Cheeto to receive a reconstructive surgery (perineal urethrostomy) to help prevent any further urinary blockages. His surgery is scheduled for June 11, 2025, and we were quoted at between $4,500-$5,000. Without the surgery, he has a major risk of blocking again, and truthfully, we can’t continue to afford taking him in over and over to get unblocked. This really is his best option.

To some it may seem ridiculous to rack up $15k in vet bills for an animal, but he is so much more than just a pet to us. He truly is like a son to us, and has been here with us through so many major life events. We just can’t justify giving up on him when there’s something we can do to help.

I know times are tough, and many may not have the means to help us continue fighting for our boy. We were hesitant to make this GoFundMe for this very reason.
