This GoFundMe is for my sister, Brianna (Hovik) Tunnell. She’s a wife, a mother of two great teenage kids, and an all-around awesome person.
In 2013, without any known health issues, she passed out while picking apples. During the ensuing hospitalization, the attending doctors were not able to identify the cause, but it signaled the start of an unbelievable medical journey.
Fast forward ten years and she’s had 62 surgeries, including 20 to remove tumors. She’s experienced radiation, immunotherapy treatments, chemotherapy, stem cell treatment, potassium infusions, grand-mal seizures, and to top it all off, she’s lost all her teeth. She’s been diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia. I’ve never personally witnessed so much suffering.
2022 was a hard year. She had 7 surgeries on her feet, to restore bone structure eaten away by chemotherapy and infections. She had a PICC line for nearly three months of the year to administer antibiotics to fight infections in her feet. She contracted septic pneumonia and suffered a collapsed lung twice, bringing her oxygen saturation to 40 percent or lower, resulting in two lengthy hospital visits. She needed an oxygen concentrator during those months. And of course, there’s the ever-present chemotherapy, usually costing $1,400 a session.
As you can probably understand, the cost has been phenomenal, and it’s just too heavy, financially. A decade in, they just need some help at this point. We can't do it alone anymore. Please help if you can.
