I am Jim Church a Vietnam veteran. My grandson William Wells, 34, was cut from his insurance with no warning. William has been battling painful and debilitating diseases since 16. For most people, this would be a bad day, but for Will, it’s a daily life-threatening situation,per his doctor. Will applied for insurance immediately after discovering his benefits were canceled, but it takes months for the it to get approved. This is time that Will does not have to give.

His basic lifesaving medications and weekly port needle change cost $2228 a month. His mother, Michelle Wells, and I, Jim Church Vietnam Veteran,has been trying to get help, but it wasn’t enough. He's skipping meds he shouldn’t and cutting back on others. You’ve probably seen Will around town. He likes to stop in at Noley’s with Michelle to grab a drink and music. He enjoys supporting me and my fellow Veterans at events. His medical conditions aren’t something you can usually spot unless you know what you’re looking for. According to a letter from Will’s doctor, he has multiple complex chronic medical diseases including but not limited to RSD, adrenal insufficiency, Graves’ disease, chronic anemia, mast cell activation syndrome, osteoporosis and dysautonomia.There is no cure for RSD, and it has been nicknamed “the suicide disease” because of the high suicide rate among people afflicted by it. His brain is constantly signaling pain to every nerve in his body. But this is just one of many conditions that Will is challenged with. As it has spread, he has been diagnosed with adrenal insufficiencies that require daily IV steroids. During times of extra stress, he requires emergency doses to keep him alive. He requires synthetic hormones because his thyroid no longer creates them naturally. Dysautonomia is currently the main threat to Will’s life, because it effects every function his body required to live. Please consider helping Will.
