PLEASE HELP WILLIAM CAMPBELL WALK AGAIN
Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you may know by now, William Campbell had a very severe stroke at the end of March. With the severity of the stroke and having been down for a few days before anyone found him, things looked very grave once he reached the hospital. The day he got to the hospital the doctor informed us that his condition was extremely serious, and things could go “either way”. This meant he could possibly make it through the night or not and that we would have to take each day as it comes. This was one of those moments where your heart just drops to the floor.
At the time of the stoke William was a very young 72-year-old. He was still working, active at the gym and led a nice social life. From this life that he knew, in a blink of an eye, he woke up in ICU at Scripps Hospital as a changed man forever. He could not speak, was very confused, and could not move his body. The stroke caused paralysis on his entire left side.
William has spent six weeks in the hospital, 100 days in a Skilled Nursing Facility, and has now been moved to an Assisted Living/Board and Care home in Menifee. During this time, he has received much needed Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy. Unfortunately, his insurance has only approved four more sessions of Physical Therapy and two sessions of Speech Therapy, moving forward. He has already used two of the PT sessions and one of the Speech Therapy sessions. William is in so much need of more therapy. As you can see from the video of his most recent PT session, he has begun to regain some movement in his leg. We are all so excited. However, if the treatments stop now, there will be no more progression, and what he has gained will be lost confining him to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. Unfortunately, there has been no movement or progress with his left arm yet, but we are not giving up!
This Go-Fund-Me page was created to help William continue his therapy and help provide him with a few things such as daily medical supplies, daily living necessities such as toiletries, medical transportation to doctor appointments and any other incidentals he may need along the way. His income was abruptly stopped, and his entire Social Security check now goes toward his “share of cost” for his room at the Board and Care.
We are greatly aware of so many people struggling for many different reasons currently. We continue to pray for a better tomorrow for everyone and thank God everyday that he is seeing William through this.
If you would like to be a part of William’s recovery and to help him walk again, any amount you would like to give will be deeply appreciated. Please know, no amount is too small.
(We will continue to post updates.)
We truly love you all and Thank You so very much,
Diana Higgins, on behalf of William Campbell
