We are writing to you about Waleed Dassoum .
Waleed is a caring and dedicated family man. He is a son, a brother, a husband and a father of 2 wonderful children aged 12 and 10.
Waleed is 54 years old and until last year, he had been continuously employed with a long term employer for the last 28 years. He had been the sole provider for his family.
He has, unfortunately, lost his job in the summer of 2020 during the Covid19 pandemic. Since then he has been unsuccessful in securing any employment opportunity. His wife is employed. Her income is very basic and doesn't come close to covering any of the daily costs of living.
Waleed is based in the United Arab Emirates and he is from Lebanon. His home in Beirut was damaged during the Beirut port explosion of August 4th, 2020. His sister has also been injured in the same explosion.
After nearly a year of trying to find a job, the money he had saved has dried up and the bills are beginning to add up. Waleed and his family need urgent financial help to settle their final rent payments in the UAE and fund their return home. They would also need money to do minor fixes at their damaged home in Beirut to make it liveable and safe for a family with 2 young children.
I have known Waleed personally for over 20 years and he is a consistent, reliable, hardworking man. The job search has been hard and long but unsuccessful.
His return home will give him an ability to start again. With a repaired home and with the outstanding bills paid, he will be able return to Beirut for a new beginning.
