Hello! I'm Adrian. I welcome the help of friends from all over the world who have aided me in my travel to Belgium for a surgical procedure and my current recovery. Thank you so much for taking a moment to read about my situation! I have an awful condition that happens to 1 out of 20,000 people called pudendal neuralgia. I had surgery on August 21st to cure me of a debilitating pudendal nerve entrapment. The pain has been progressively becoming extreme since April 2024. Unfortunately, doctors are typically not trained with this specific nerve condition, and I went undiagnosed for a while. There are very few medications to take, and the mental anguish has been unbearable in addition to the physical pain which ranges from levels of 8, 9, or 10 from day-to-day.
As of June 2024, it seems my entire world came to a halt. Normally, I am an optimistic, goal-driven person with a giving type of personality to help others, but I am struggling to stay sane and positive when this pain seems to be defeating me to the point of constant depression and misery. This surgery was necessary to return to a normal life. I am still young and know I have some work to do in this world while I'm here to lead a life of service.
I am visually impaired (central serous retinopathy) and was a first-grade teacher. In May, I had just graduated with a master's degree in elementary education from the University of Las Vegas with a 3.922 GPA. I had so many plans for my future and was really excited to begin exploring new career paths. I'm the first in both maternal and paternal families to have a bachelor's and master's degree. Everyone is so proud of me, and I am proud of my accomplishments. I was accepted to the University of Reno into a PhD program for Human Development and Family Science but had to turn down the offer because of what's happened. You can only imagine how devastated I was to undergo this horrible experience where I cannot work, continue my education, and must stay home while taking strong medications which is the only comfort my PCP can offer me at this time.
Although the surgery is over, I cannot return to work for quite some time. Recovery will be anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. I really need support to pay rent and other bills. I cannot do this without your support!
I am very grateful to those who helped me with my surgery and traveling expenses as I have no resources to assist me with this. I loved my job working as an educator but I have not been working since I have been having my severe pain. I am living entirely off of savings to pay the rent which is going to deplete very soon if I do not return to work. I want to get a job working in child and family welfare. I appreciate your contribution and you will be helping a child educator to get their life back. Thank you!
