Please help us with Ryder’s surgery
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
Our boy Ryder had an accident on Saturday 9th December which left him unable to walk, finding out he has suffered a full cruciate ligament rupture/tear that requires immediate surgery.
Watching this happen and the aftermath has been devastating because he’s gone from such an active and energetic boy to being unable to walk or put any weight on the leg. We are grateful he has been able to be seen by specialists locally so quickly who are able to help.
Unfortunately we have been told the surgery and medications (as long as there are no complications) will be between £5.5-6k ($9356-$10,207 CAD) a total price more than was originally expected. Luckily we do have insurance but only will be partially covering the bills (£3581 after the x-rays & medication he’s had to have).
This does not include the surgery after care and rehabilitation / physio which he will need (likely at least another £1.5-2k) and even with utilizing our savings we will not have enough funds to cover the remaining medical bills (over £2400 / $4081 CAD) and the after care, rehab/ physio which will be needed for months after. It has been incredibly stressful on top of everything.
He is our fur baby and we treat him as if he was our child; we really love him more than anything and would do anything for him. I always say he is my “soul dog” as I got him when I was 25 years old and at that time in my life it felt like it was just me & him, he was (and is) my best friend and I don’t know what I would do without him.
Ryder is the most loyal and protective dog I’ve known. Too smart for his own good sometimes, and so intuitive to others emotions or feelings. Loves humans (although he is more selective about what dogs he likes!). Always down for pizza or a pup cup / ice cream. He loves running free in the nature reserves near home and his favourite time of the year is winter. If there was snow in England he’d be outside rolling in it all day.
He is so special to us and even after his injury he has been trying to carry on as normal despite not being able to do the same things, being so brave and tough through the pain.
We are asking today if you can help us in any way to afford Ryder’s surgery and treatment in order for him to recover and have a great quality of life again, and hopefully many more years with him. Any amount makes a difference and we would be beyond grateful for your help.
Thank you so much for your support
