Hi, I'm Liana, and my sister Guyana, with her son Robert, genuinely need your help.
Benji, their beautiful, young bengal cat is only 2 years old, was healthy and happy, when he suddenly quit eating and driking normally just over a week, and could not relieve himself properly. When they took him to the vet, doctors discovered urinary blockage/crystal accumulation, very common in male cats, they performed multiple initial procedures to help him, costing us $7,500, none of which resolved anything, and when he got even worse, they did the perineal urethrostomy surgery, which we had to pay over $6,000 for, which we were told was supposed to be 90% successful in male cats. They thought he'd be able to relieve himself on his own, but whenever they removed his catheter, he would not be able to, and so far is only getting worse.
His veterinary doctor can't understand why as everything was done properly, but when it looked like Benji may not even make it through this ordeal, they recommended the ureteral stent surgery asap, yet another one for this poor kitty who has already suffered through so many treatments and surgeries. Which costs $10,000 on top of every other treatment and surgery he already got. All the medical treatments aside, Guyana and Robert are also stuck with thousands of extra dollars in veterinary bills for his animal hospital stay since they told them he could get proper care for this condition at home right now. So to save Benji's life, they decided to drive him 7 hours north of where we live to UC Davis, the best facility our surgeon here recommended could possibly make a difference for him. They have already quickly maxed out our pet insurance, leaving them with many thousands of dollars of medical bills to pay, and more coming from the vet facilities he's being held in, to special prescription diet, medicines, etc. All of this is putting them in debt, and we would not be asking for help if we truly did not need it.
Thank you all so much for your help, we truly cannot appreciate it enough!!<3
