Please Help Mico Fernandez in His Fight Against Acute Leukemia

Our family’s life changed suddenly when our brother, Mico, was diagnosed in December 2025 with a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer called Early T-cell Precursor Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ETP-ALL). This serious condition required immediate and intensive treatment.

He was admitted to the hospital on January 11, 2026 and began intensive chemotherapy. During treatment, Mico faced several serious complications, including atrial fibrillation, infections, and bleeding, which required surgery and frequent blood transfusions.

After completing his first round of chemotherapy, doctors discovered an unexpected change. A repeat bone marrow test showed that the leukemia had shifted to Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). His doctors believe he may have a rare biphenotypic form of leukemia, where different types of leukemia cells exist together.

Mico remains hospitalized and will soon undergo a second round of chemotherapy to treat the myeloid leukemia. However, his best chance for a long-term cure is a bone marrow transplant, which his medical team hopes to perform in April. Because of the intensity of the treatment process, the earliest he may be able to return home is around June, and he continues to stay in strict isolation to protect him from infection.

The cost of leukemia treatment is overwhelming. Hospital stays, chemotherapy, medications, laboratory tests, blood transfusions, and ongoing care are quickly adding up, with our current running bill now at USD 75,000+. The second cycle of chemotherapy is expected to cost an additional USD 34,000, while bone marrow transplant alone is estimated to cost USD 120,000. Even with insurance, the out-of-pocket medical expenses place an enormous financial burden on his family.

Right now, Mico’s focus must be on fighting this disease and receiving the urgent care he needs.

This fundraiser is dedicated to helping cover Mico’s medical bills and bone marrow transplant, so he and his family can focus on his recovery rather than the growing financial strain.

If you are able to give, any amount will make a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this page and keeping Mico in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for standing with Mico in his fight against leukemia.
