Please Help Us Stay in Our Home

Our neighbors, Celine (72) and Rene (87), who have been married 46 years, recently received a letter stating that in less than 3 months, their rent would be increasing $500 per month (a 50% increase). Rene has full-blown Vascular Dementia, AAA aneurysm in the Aorta, and an aneurysm in his leg. According to doctors and caregiver specialists, a person in Rene’s state should not be moved. Celine works as his full time caregiver through Home Instead Senior Care and already struggles to financially survive after losing their business and everything they owned in the recession of 2008. Knowing all this, their landlord is still not willing to work with them. We need to buy them some time to stay in their current home until we can help them secure resources in our community to supplement their rent or help them buy a house. These things take more time than they have. Without help, Celine and Rene will be forced out of their home on New Year’s Day in a town with a 1% rental availability rate during the coldest winter months here in Bend, Oregon. They will be living on the streets. If we could raise $6,000, we could secure their next years rent. Would you be willing help? Thank you so much!
