Hi, my name is Shelby, and I’m a mom trying to give my 14 year old son a chance at a safe and healthy future after the hardest year of our lives.
Earlier this year, my son was attacked by 13 kids and left hospitalized with injuries that doctors say may never fully heal. We are still in the early stages of dealing with the legal side of things, and are still trying to cope with that trauma when things took a turn for the worse. A few days ago my son attempted to take his own life. Thankfully, he’s still with us, but it has made it clear that we can’t stay where we are. The environment here is dangerous for him, and it’s hurting his mental health every day. He just wants to go back to a place where we're with family and feel comfortable and safe.
We need to move from Las Vegas to Missouri to be closer to family and provide a stable, supportive home where he can heal physically and emotionally. This move isn’t just about a fresh start. It’s about saving my child and giving him hope for the future.
I am trying to raise $20,000 to cover two major needs: the cost of moving and the medical expenses that have built up and will continue as he recovers. Here’s where the funds will go: housing deposits and moving costs, which will take about $9,500, paying down current medical bills and keeping up with care, and ongoing therapy to help him recover mentally and emotionally.
If you can help in any way, whether by donating or sharing this campaign, it would mean everything to us. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for helping us fight for my son’s future.
