UPDATE: Hi, I am sorry to say Pepper did not make it and want to thank everyone for their support. We can’t believe that Pepper went from a happy, young dog to one that has passed in the most tragic of circumstances.

We are now left with debts that will hang over us for years to come. The final bills totalled £23,000. We are still asking people to please make a donation, no matter how small to help us.

Hi, as some of you may know my sister Maggie rescued Pepper, a beautiful scared dog who was found in a bin wrapped in wire. She worked tirelessly to transform her into a friendly, confident and happy dog.

Those of you who know a bit more know that Pepper actually saved Maggie. They came into each others lives when they both needed it most.

Two weeks ago Pepper was her usual happy self who went to the vet for scans and blood tests as she was occasionally being sick. All was well apart from a distended gallbladder which would have to be looked at later on, she was safe to go home. When Maggie collected her she was sedated but the vet promised she would improve by the following morning. Over the next 24 hours, any pet owners worst nightmares were realised as she deteriorated and only with Maggie’s persistence was she eventually transferred to the Royal Veterinary College Hospital for emergency surgery for a ruptured gallbladder. There she remains in Intensive Care. Every minute is spent waiting by the phone for updates.

The costs have spiralled (and continue to) beyond anything we can afford. They are currently at £17500. Any insurance has been used.

We have set the amount high but know we may not get anywhere near it. We would grateful for ANY donation no matter how small to continue her treatment.

UPDATE: Pepper remains in intensive care, making lots of progress very slowly but is fighting with everything she has. The vets do not want to give up on her yet, they are doing everything they can. Please please please think of Pepper and keep her there or in your prayers. Thank you.
