Please Help Us Save Our Mum – We’re Running Out of Time

Donation protected
Assalamu alaikum

I am trying to raise money for my mum who has been diagnosed with IgA nephropathy, a disease that has destroyed her kidneys. In just one year, her kidney function (GFR) dropped from around 40 to 13. She is a mother of four, with two of my younger siblings still in primary school. She has always put us before herself, sacrificing everything to make sure we are safe, happy, and cared for. But now, she is suffering, and we are watching helplessly as she gets weaker every single day.

Her body is shutting down, and the doctors told us that she will have to start dialysis soon, something she has always feared, but since her kidneys are failing rapidly, the doctors are not confident her body can cope on dialysis alone and would need a transplant as soon as possible. Still, the waiting list in the UK is so long it could take over 2 years - she does not have that long.

We are doing everything we possibly can, but we need help. We are trying to raise enough money to pay for her transplant, the hospital fees, —everything she needs to stay alive.

In this blessed month of Ramadan, we are seeking your help to aid us with the ongoing costs.

Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (sallallahu ‘alaihu wasallam) said:

“whosoever removes a hardship among the hardships of this world from a believer, Allah will remove a hardship from him on the Day of Judgement”

“whoever brings ease to the one who is in difficulty, Allah will bring him ease in this world and in the hereafter”

How It All Started – A Painful Mistake
This could have been prevented. My mum had a blood test back in 2022, but the GP never looked at it properly despite showing her kidneys were failing. We were not warned, not told that her kidneys were failing. Then, most heartbreakingly, we received a simple text message a year later saying she had CKD Stage 3. That was it. No call, no explanation—just a message.

Within a year, it escalated to stage 5 - she is now a stage 5 End-Stage Chronic Kidney Disease (ESKD) as her kidneys have fully failed on her.

Had we known earlier, we could have done something. We could have slowed the disease, kept it at a lower stage, and given her more time. But we didn’t even get a chance. Now, we are desperately fighting to save her life.

The transplant waiting list in the UK is too long and does not have a time frame and my mum has no time to wait, her kidneys are failing a lot faster than anticipated by the doctors. She doesn’t have time to wait. So, with no other choice, we want to do the transplant back home, hoping that we can find a donor and get her the surgery she needs before it’s too late.

And if you cannot donate, please, I ask you, keep her in your prayers. We believe in the power of dua, and we need all the prayers we can get.

Jazakallah khair
