Korra was left behind when neighbors moved away in January. She began coming to our home hungry, frightened, and unsure of people. We fed her, gave her a warm shelter, and slowly, over many weeks, earned her trust. She now sleeps safely indoors at night and loves spending her days relaxing on our sunlit porch.
On Friday, she went out as usual but never came in that night. We knew something was wrong and searched and searched for her.
On Saturday morning, we found her badly injured on our porch. We rushed her to Central Island Emergency Veterinary Hospital, where she is being treated for multiple wounds, a severely swollen head, a 1.5-inch laceration across her belly, and serious infection, fever, and pain after an apparent animal attack.
She is so incredibly lovely, and we are just heartbroken to see her like this.
Her vet bills are already exceeding $3,500, and more treatment is still needed.
She survived being left behind, and we are doing everything we can to help her survive this too. Once Korra recovers, she will be a full-time indoor kitty with a catio so she can still safely enjoy the outdoors without the threat of predators.
As our family is also still recovering from a house fire, we are feeling overwhelmed and would be deeply grateful for any help.
Please donate if you can, any amount is truly appreciated, or share her story.
Thank you so much.
We will provide updates to Korras health along the way.
